Sumiko Ishii Kusa-makura (grass pillow)
Grass pillows with abstract impressions made with handmade Japanese paper from Yomogi(Japanese mugwort) and Kuromoji trees. Sumiko Ishii sublimates the beauty that emerges from the spirituality that resides in handcrafts as a link between the ancient and the modern, and creates works of art. She runs "gallery hakuden" in Kyotanba, Kyoto, where he plans and manages exhibitions that create new works of craft with artists. She is also active as a member of "Kogei Panks Sha," an artistic unit creating space for human spirit, with the founder of COSMIC WONDER and contemporary artist Yukinori Maeda.
